5th/6th grade Bulldogs traveled to Rock Falls for their final game of the season and would not be disappointed taking the final game of the year 22 – 0; throwing up their first shutout of the season. The Rockets had no answer for the Bulldogs aggressive and physical defense throughout the game, only mustering 2 first downs on the day. The Bulldogs defensive attack was led by Griffin Hamstra who collected 5 total tackles on the day, 1 sack, and 1 QB hurry. The defense was motivated all game to keep the shutout, as this was one of their main goals all year long that had eluded them in previous weeks.
On the other side of the ball the Bulldogs dominated every aspect of the game as the rushing attack and aerial assault was working all game long. From the opening snap the offense was moving up and down the field and the only thing stopping them was their own internal mistakes; which were limited compared to previous weeks. The Bulldogs had the ball three times in the first half leading to one score for an 8 – 0 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs did have two throws at the endzone late in the second quarter that just fell short of the endzone. The third quarter started with a 3 and out by the defense giving the ball to the offense who, 4 plays later hit the endzone on another Temple TD run, a common theme throughout the year, to give the Bulldogs what felt like an unsurmountable 16 – 0 lead. The Bulldogs continued to play tough and got another score added on in the 4th quarter to cap off the scoring at 22 – 0.
The Bulldogs had a very successful season ending at 4 -1 on the year. Behind a strong offensive line and a triple threat backfield in Hamstra at QB, Temple at HB, and Blasdell getting tough yards in the middle at FB, this group is going to be a force to be reckoned with well into the future!! Great season and GO BULLDOGS!!
